Head Grower and General Manager, Breckendale Flower Farm

This is a full-time, year-round, salaried position that requires varying hours depending on time of season. The spring growing season will require overtime hours. Flexibility in scheduling and weekend availability required.
Objective
To plan, direct, and coordinate all aspects of our wholesale greenhouse operation. To efficiently grow and maintain the highest standard of annual plants.

Production
- Oversee all aspects of annual crop culture and growing procedures
- Execute cultural practices including fertilization, IPM, and PGR applications
- Develop new techniques or methods for growing high quality plant material
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Pesticide License
- Receiving and shipping
- Maintain clean and tidy work areas
Facilities
- Oversee Facilities Manager
- Propose yearly facilities budget for general maintenance and improvements
- Coordinate truck deliveries of plants, supplies, and hard goods.
- Maintain current and valid Driver’s License with DOT health card
Management

Knowledge and Skills
This position requires a degree in Horticulture or related field or a combination of education in horticulture and 1-2 years of experience.
Physical requirements
This is a physical job that requires you to be on your feet for the duration of your shift. Must have the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as lifting, bending, reaching, walking, pushing and pulling carts, handling and sorting of materials. Must be able to lift 10-20 lbs. repetitively. Must be able to tolerate hot and humid conditions in the greenhouse and various weather conditions outside. Must hydrate as needed.
